The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Sunday urged all intending travellers to Qatar to obtain duly signed and stamped yellow book on polio and other communicable disease.
The administration canvassed the position in a statement by its Deputy Director/Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Muhammad Hazat Sule, noting that the document was essential for all intending travellers.
The statement said it became expedient for all intending travellers to obtain the document, citing a report that Qatar banned Nigerian travellers without valid polio vaccination certificate to avoid the spread of the disease.
The statement explained that the report banning Nigerian travellers without valid polio vaccination was a precautionary measure “to guide against the spread of the disease in that country.”
It added that the Department of State Security (DSS) “has drawn the attention of the FCT Administration to the fact that reports availed to the service has revealed that Qatar authorities have resolved to ban all Nigerian citizens travelling to Qatar without valid certificate of vaccination against polio.
“In this view, the FCTA Permanent Secretary, Mr. John Chukwu, wishes to intimate all stakeholders and intending travellers, particularly those resident in the Federal Capital Territory on the need to obtain duly signed and stamped yellow book on polio and other communicable diseases.”
The statement reiterated that obtaining the yellow book on polio and other communicable diseases “is very necessary to avoid embarrassment at the port of entry into the country.”
