Your Excellency, with utmost humility and highest sense of patriotism, we the joing Unions/Associations of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, in Ido osi local government Area of Ekiti Stat e whis to bring to the notice of your Excellency the unsavoury situation currently prevading the Hospital Community as occasioned by the administrative posture of the Chief Medicval Director of the hospital, in person of Dr. lawrence majekodunmi Ayodele.
Without mincing words, we make bold to say that the tenure of the incumbent Chief Medical Director of the Hospital (which terminates on June 1, 2016) has been a clear epitome of atmosphere devoid of industrial peace and harmony as evident in the unspeakable high-handedness, scary insensitivity and a state of nil decorum in all conceivable ramifications.
Your Excellency, it is with great reluctance and caution that we restrain from describing the style of administration of the Chief Medical Director as that which is reminiscence of the Stone Age where finesse was relatively uncommon. Instances of the myriads of maladministration observable under the leadership of the Chief Medical Director include but not limited to the underlisted spheres to wit:
* Sales of application forms for employment into various positions in the Hospital at N5000 each in the year 2013 without conducting any interview. Rather in October, 2014 prior to the commencement of Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) in order to cover the number of ghost workers, the Management employed over three hundred personnel without following due process and backdated their employment letters by up to two years. More worrisome is the fact that some people have been issued appointment letters for more than one year and have not been allowed to assume duty.
* Payment of Government funds into accounts other than bank accounts being run by the Hospital.
* Undue inflation in the number of members of staff being paid under Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) platform and the siphoning of the left over funds.
* Unjust removal of various allowances by the Management from the staff salaries e.g. rural allowance, despite staff running various out-stations in the rural areas.
* Stoppage of payment of Update fees Examination fees, Revision Courses fees, Conference, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and training allowances to all categories of workers in the last 3 years.
* Despite the huge amount of money the Hospital Management claims to be earmarked annually for the procurement of drugs, essential drugs remain grossly unavailable.
* Incessant harassments, threat and victimization of members of staff through undue demotion, wlthdrawal , of salaries and unnecessary outstation posting for no just cause.
* Sacking of over Thirty Resident Doctors in the name of relocation without making replacement in the last three (3) years.
* Drastic reduction in the number of intern doctors (115 to a staggering 19) Intern Pharmacists, Intern Medical Laboratory Scientists, Intern Physiotherapists.
* Biased and unfair promotion exercise in favour of friends and allies while perceived enemies are denied promotion despite fulfilling all criteria.
* Vindictive withdrawal of call duty food for over six months despite staff running life-saving duties during call duty hours in contrast to what is obtainable in other sister institutions.
As if the foregoing anomalies are but a tip of the iceberg, the Chief Medical Director patently exposed himself to the entire world during the unfortunate accident which claimed the lives of three (3) members of staff of the Hospital namely, Dr. Aladesanmi Tunde, Dr. Akinyele Alexander and Dr. Adeniyi James. The insensitivity and irresponsiveness demonstrated by the Management of the Hospital towards the grieving families are not only alarming but equally unbelievable.
Your Excellency, it remains shocking indeed that up till the time of writing this letter to Your Excellency, the Management of the Hospital has not deemed it fit to either formally send condolence messages to the families of the deceased members of staff let alone paying them visit.
By way of a conscious act of adding insult to the injury for the reason only best fathomable to the Chief Medical Director, he granted an interview to the Nation Newspaper of Monday 2nd day of May, 2016 wherein in his customary unconscionable fashion insulted the grief mood of the deceased families by stating that the deceased members of staff of the Hospital did not seek and obtain the permission of the Hospital Management before embarking on the ill-fated journey (on a Sunday).
Your Excellency, prior to the accident which claimed the lives of the aforesaid three (3) doctors of the Hospital, the entire Hospital community was merely enduring the disgusting and backward-looking administrative style of the Chief Medical Director as the patience of members of staff had already been provocatively stretched to a malleable point. The accident saga has however constituted the last straw that had broken the camel's back.
On the strength of the above catalogued misrule by the Chief Medical Director among other disturbing stances; the members of staff at a joint Congress "held within the Hospital premises on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 HAVE FORTHWITH, UNANIMOUSLY PASSED A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE on the leadership of Dr. Lawrence Majekodunmi Ayodele.
It is with a deep sense of responsibility and concern that we therefore pleadingly and respectfully request Your Excellency to forthwith remove the said Dr. Lawrence Majekodunmi Ayodele as the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital so as to restore the much needed peace and desirable sanity into the administration of the Hospital.
We thank Mr. President for anticipated quick intervention as a stitch in time saves nine.
