Association of Female Pharmacists, Abuja chapter has pledged to support the new INEC chief Amina Zakari to achieve the mandate of the commission.

The group commended President Muhammadu Buhari for deeming it fit to appoint a woman into key and sensitive office like the electoral body contrary to views expressed during the presidential campaigns.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, spokesperson of the group, Pharm. Bridget Otote said no amount of political blackmail would deter the group from supporting the new INEC boss to succeed, stressing that the group had implicit confidence in her ability to deliver as INEC boss.

She condemned the recent attack by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party over her appointment, noting that the president reserved the right to appoint any competent hand as INEC chairman.

“We are happy not just because she is our colleague and a woman, but because she is competent to deliver on the odious task ahead. She has proven her competence in every administrative position entrusted to her.

Besides, her experience in INEC couple with the solid foundation laid by her predecessor, Prof. Attahiru Jega, we are confident that she is on a cruising level,” she said.
