FG Effort to Curb Lassa Fever Impressive – PSN

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) yesterday said that the federal government has set stage to win the war against Lassa fever epidemic currently ravaging the country.
 
The PSN president, Pharm. Ahmed Yakasai in a statement, said the commitment of the government through the Health ministry, Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organisation (WHO) was commendable.
 
Yakasai called on all Pharmacists and other members of the Healthcare team to join hands and support the government to win the current war against the Lassa fever in the country.
 
He said PSN is particularly impressed with the positive outcomes from the Emergency NCH which included: increase in number of Diagnostic Centres from six to 14;  inauguration of Lassa Fever Eradication Committee; provision of adequate funds for procurement of drugs for treating patients of Lassa Fever; integrated approach to mobilise stakeholders such as religious, traditional leaders and the media, among others.
 
Meanwhile, Plateau state government is to begin full enforcement of the monthly sanitation exercise in the 17 local government areas of the State as part of efforts to eradicate rodents transmitting diseases.
