The federal government is to adopt pro-poor policy in delivering good health care to the nooks and crannies of the country, Minister of Health, Professor Isaac F. Adewole has said. He spoke yesterday at the opening of induction course for newly elected officers of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) in Abuja.
Professor Adewole said in line with the approach, the new government’s slogan will be ‘every life counts and at the same time, every death will also count,’ adding that government will use all available resources to achieve the initiative. He called on the association to embrace change and be supportive of the government by delivering services and not strike. Earlier, the national president of the association, Alhaji Abdrafiu Alani Adeniji, said some of the challenges facing the association include tackling quackery in the profession.
The association’s acting General-Secretary, Comrade T.A Shettima, promised the association’s readiness to work harmoniously with the federal government and bring quality health to the people of the country.
