The Minister for health Professor Issac Adewole has assured the Management of University of Uyo Teaching Hospital UUTH in Akwa Ibom of the Federal Government commitment to its overall development.
Professor Adewole who stated this yesterday when he visited the Teaching Hospital to assess infrastructures available at the Teaching Hospital explained that the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari watch would ensure full implementation of this year’s budget to achieve sustainable health care of the people.

‘If citizens are a country’s principal asset then their health status defines the course of development, and their health characteristics determine the nature and direction of human development ’’Adewole stated.
The Health Minister who appealed to the management of the Teaching Hospital to prioritize its needs according to budgetary allocation explained the federal government has begun to discourage overseas medical trips by public servant to conserve fund.
‘’ This year’s Federal Government budget is tight, but I promised to inaugurate the General Outpatients Building within the year so as to give the hospital enough space for Accident and Emergency Unit.
He thanked the state Government for announcing the release of N100 million for the completion of the G O D Building of the Hospital and commended the state Commissioner for assisting the hospital.
On his part the Chief Medical Director of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital Professor Etete Peters told the Minister that lack of fund had made it difficult for the Hospital to recruit staff members approved by the Federal Government in spite of waiver granted to employ staff of various cadres mostly nurses and resident doctors.
