Fidson Healthcare Plc has entered into a partnership with three American firms – Immune Therapeutics, GB Pharma and American Hospitals & Resort – for the marketing and distribution of Lodonal, a patent-protected product that is indicated for the management of patients with immune-compromising diseases.

Immune-compromising diseases include AIDS, cancers of the immune system, such as leukemia;     immune complex diseases, such as viral hepatitis; and multiple myeloma.

Explaining the likely outcomes of the partnership in the nation’s health sector and the economy, Fidson’s Managing Director, Dr. Fidelis Ayebae, said, “The significance is monumental as a concrete symbol of US-Nigerian commerce in non-oil, non-gas-related sector.

“It is a proof of positive future for local manufacturing of quality pharmaceuticals on the African continent.”

President and CEO of GB Pharma, Dr. Gloria Herndon, described the partnership as “the crescendo of a great masterpiece.”

She expressed optimism that the Nigeria-US bilateral relationship would benefit from the initiative, noting that “it will enhance the health and wellbeing of people globally.”

AHAR CEO, Dr. Richard Afonja, said that as a result of the partnership, the collaborating firms were well positioned to effect a novel approach to treating HIV/AIDS and other immune- compromising diseases in the entire African region, starting with Nigeria.

“Bringing Fidson on board will enhance the facilitation of getting the much-needed treatment approach for these conditions,” Afonja noted.
