The LittleBigSouls International Charitable Foundation has called on governments at all levels in the country to pay more attention to the care of premature babies.
Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Mrs Yvonne Igweh made the call yesterday during the World Prematurity Day commemoration in Abuja.
She said prematurity equipment and incubators were almost nearly nonexistent at primary health care levels in the country, and that is where many babies are born prematurely.
She said there are only few cases at the secondary and tertiary health levels. Represented by two celebrity ambassadors of the foundation and leading Nollywood Actors, Ejike Asiegbu and Francis Duru, she said while many children are born prematurely, they could survive when they have proper care.
Igweh said Little Bigsouls had been providing neonatal care equipment, and low resource life- saving intervention measures in health care centres in Africa and globally to improve the care and survival of pregnant women and babies.
International music star, Tuface Idibia is also a celebrity ambassador of the foundation.
