The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole has charged the Kano state government to continue its strides in health sector development as ‘’this is a surer way for any government to connect with the grassroots’’

The Minister gave this charge recently, while Commissioning and Inspecting six (6) health facilities under the Kano state Ministry of health. The facilities are: Dawakin Tofa General Hospital, Middle road Sabon Gari Maternal and Child health clinic, Distribution of equipment worth N700m to 269 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Kano, CT-Scan room and upgraded theatres, at Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital, New Paediatric Hospital, Zoo Road and Giginyu Specialist hospital.

Adewole said that quality health care delivery could only be guaranteed through availability of functional and standard health facilities. He therefore commended the government of Kano state for prioritizing the provision of essential health care services to improve the lives of its citizens, especially women and children.
 
The Minister posited that quality life through standard health care was the highest democratic dividend a government could offer its people. He therefore appealed to management and staff of the facilities to ensure that the equipment were maintained for sustainability, effectiveness and efficient health care delivery.

In his remarks, the Executive governor, Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje appreciated the minister for commissioning the facilities and pledged continuous commitment to health care delivery in order to improve on the health indices of the State especially as regards immunization programmes, eradication of Polio, meningitis and other diseases.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, informed that the motive behind the commissioned projects stemmed from the state government’s resolve to offer the best health care to the teeming population in Kano, its environs and Nigeria at large.

To this end, the Commissioner said the State government had established Kano Health Trust Fund with a view to achieving sustainable healthcare financing and universal health coverage.
