Health Promotion: NANNM, Unilever Target 10m

In a bid to promote the culture of preventive health among Nigerians, Unilever Nigeria Plc and the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, aimed at reaching 10 million Nigerians with information on disease prevention among others
 
 The new oartnership which will run for the year 2015 and 2016 would take health awareness to the door steps of millions of consumers through a multiple set of initiative by 2020.
 
 At the official signing of the MoU which held at Unilegel office office in Lagos, Marketing Manager, Unilever, Lr. David Okeme explained that the role nurses play in the community informed the choice of the association. "This is an initiative for us is reach out to families and children and carry on to them 
the right information and right behaviour and habits."
 
 Nothing the role of nurses in community healthcare delivery, he said reserch has established that before people even showed up in the hospital a lot of them must have made several conversations with these unwses. "That is how important they are important they are in tearms of the role they play within the community."
 
 
Responding, National President, NANNM, Comrade Adeniji Abdurafiu Alani said the MoU, would be of great benefit for Nigerians, particularly, women and chidren who the most vulnerable in the society, adding that, without caring for these Nigerians, the health indices of the country will be nose diving . 
 
 He said most of the proframmes under the partnership woild target more school children becouse they are prone to certain precentable diseases including worn infestation, malaria and other endemic diseases that are predominant in Africa.
 
 Andurafiu - Alani noted that the partnership will focus more on preventive health which he said is the most important part pf disease prevention and mojor tool in health detection of any ailment.
