The Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN) has developed a new curriculum for the training of health records officers at National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels.
Daily Trust gathered that leading experts in the field developed the revised curriculum, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, MEASURE, a USAID agency, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Speaking in Kaduna at the opening ceremony of a workshop on development of strategies for implementation of the revised curricular, HRORBN Registrar, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, said the adoption was in response to multiple challenges in health information management all over the world.
“It is against this backdrop that the board considered it prudent to be proactive in putting in place a curriculum that will guide the education and training of practitioners who will be effective in managing challenges and changes of health records practice.
It has to be an on-going process aimed at organising better learning opportunities and thus focusing on actual interactions between the teacher and the learner,” he said.
