A university don and professor of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Maduike Ezeibe has called on the federal government to support the development and mass production of an affordable therapy for the cure   of HIV\AIDS.

He also dismissed as wishful thinking any hope of developing a vaccine for HIV as according to him the cells it destroys are the same cells that produce immunity.

Ezeibe, a researcher and lecturer at Veterinary Medicine Department, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike , Abia State   who disclosed this in an interview said the existing anti-retroviral drugs apart from being expensive and outside the reach of the low income group, do not lead to permanent cure of HIV/AIDS.

He said that the government has to demonstrate the political will to defeat HIV/AIDS pandemic which   still has high prevalence in the country through making HIV/AIDS treatment affordable to all classes of Nigerians.

Prof. Ezeibe who claimed he discovered a cure for HIV/ AIDS , which he calls Medicinal synthetic Aluminum-magnesium silicate (Antivirt) said the therapy has been tried and proven capable of doing the job of reducing viral loads in a short time.
