The Honorable Minister of State for Health – Dr. Osagie Ehanire on Friday, 22nd January, 2016 paid a visit to the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State as part of facility tour of agencies and institutions of the Federal Ministry of Health. The Minister arrived with officials from the Ministry that included the Director in-charge of Specialty Hospitals, Dr. Yagana Imam, Director in-charge of Federal Medical Centers, Dr. Shatta and Senior Technical Assistant (STA) to the Minister, Dr. Belgore among others at exactly 8:02am and was received by the Provost and Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Akinwande Akinhanmi and other members of the Top Management Committee.
The Minister and his team were thereafter conducted round the hospital by the Provost and Medical Director and some heads of departments. The departments and units visited included: the Out-Patient Clinic, Pharmacy Department, Laboratory Department, Occupational Therapy Department, All the hospital wards, Electroencephalography (EEG) Unit, DATER House, Radio-diagnosis Unit, and the NHIS/Community Clinic. He was received by the Head of each of the departments and units.

The Honorable Minister later proceeded to the Conference Hall 1 within the hospital premises to hold a well-attended meeting with members of staff including executives of the various Trade Unions, Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria and the National Association of Resident Doctors where he appreciated the dedication and commitment of staff members to work, charged them to embrace dialogue in all their engagements with government and shun strike actions. He also informed the audience that the state of the economy had made it uneasy to finance some programs of the Ministry but assured that effort was on to ensure that funds were obtained for these and for the settlement of obligations and the welfare of workers. The meeting ended at about 10:32am and the minister departed shortly after.
