House of Reps Members Intervenes on AKTH ARD Strike

Five members of the House of Representatives from Kano, Jigawa and Zamfara States were in the hospital concerning the Industrial Strike action by the Resident Doctors.
 
Leader of the team Hon. Magaji Da’u representing Buji-Birnin Kudu Constituency said that the need to come together and rob minds with regards to the strike action by the Resident Doctors of AKTH necessitated their intervention as people are suffering.   Hon. Da’u said that they will clearly articulate the financial problem facing the institution as a whole and appealed to the hospital management to always keep in touch with the house whenever the need arises. 
 
On his part, the Chief Medical of the hospital, Prof. Aminu Zakari Mohammed appreciated the effort of the house members, especially, Hon. Danburan Abubakar Nuhu representing Kano Municipal constituency for bringing the motion to the house. He said this is the first time the house is intervening on strike matters in AKTH.
 
The members of the delegation later met with the Resident Doctors on the issue.
 
They also met with officials of Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) who presented their demands. The House members requested management to compute all outstanding salary related arrears for inclusion in 2016 budget
