IAPNN Holds 10TH Annual International Scientific Conference and AGM

The International Association of Psychiatric Nurses of Nigeria in collaboration with the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State today Wednesday, 6th April, 2016 commenced its 10th Annual International Scientific Conference and AGM with the theme “Participating in the Care of the Mentally ill, a call to action”. The well attended conference was declared open by the Grand Patron, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba Land, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR.
 
The conference, 10th of its kind is an annual event that brings together Psychiatric Nurses of Nigerian extraction for the purpose of networking regardless of their country of practice. IAPNN is a charitable, non-political organization of over 500 members spread across Australia, United States of America, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates. It was formed in London in August, 2003 with the goal of impacting positively on mental health of mother Africa and African communities across the globe. The association is designed to support delivery of good practice, service improvement and innovation in mental health care services in Africa.
 
The conference which commenced officially on Monday, 4th April with a series of training activities on Prevention and management of violence and aggression, had Psychiatric Nurses plying their trade in Europe, Canada, United States of America and Nigeria in attendance.
 
The conference is expected to witness several paper presentations from resource persons who are professionals in the Nursing field from different countries of membership spread. It will eventually come to an end on Friday, 8th April, 2016 with an Annual General Meeting where an election and swearing in of new officers is expected to hold.
