Improving The Standards Of Trado-Medicine in Nigeria

National President, Nigeria Medical Association Dr. Kayode Obembe has re-affirmed the association’s determination towards improving the standard of traditional medicine and experts engaged in making herbs for effective health care service delivery.
 
Dr. Obembe who stated this against the backdrop of illicit use of herbs in the country, said some of the herbs have the capacity to cure certain ailment if properly prepared.
 
 
“We need to put more efforts in monitoring and supervising the practitioners and products of local herbs to guarantee acceptable standards of medication to be prescribed for a particular treatment,” he said.
 
He noted that trado -medicine remains an excellent platform to positively project the country to the international community if well harnessed.
 
Speaking on medical tourism, he urged government to provide necessary facilities in the health sector in addition to the emergence of the office of the Surgeon General of the Federation.
