Jigawa State has recorded another case of fatal Lassa fever following the death of one person in Jangargari village of Birnin Kudi Local Government Area.
The first deadly case of the disease was recorded in December last year when the victim who was said to have contracted the disease from Rivers state died in the state.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abba Zakari Umar made the disclosure yesterday while briefing journalists in Dutse, though he said the case had not been confirmed as the result of the blood sample of the deceased was yet to be made available. “One person suspected to have contracted Lassa fever in Jigawa State was discovered in Jangargari village of Birnin Kudi Local Government Area.
We are only suspecting the case because the result of the blood sample of the deceased is not yet out.” He stated.
