Jigawa Varsity To Start Medicine Sept –Dean

The Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State, Professor Usman Ahmed, yesterday said the faculty would start running a programme on Medicine in September.
 
Usman who disclosed this to newsmen at a Health Week organised by the National Association of Jigawa Medical Students(NAJIMS) said the faculty would admit 200 Level direct entry students for MBBS, 100 Level MBBS,100 Level for Dentistry and 100 Level students for Environmental Health Science.
 
 
He said the dream of the faculty was to establish a world class medical school that is multidisciplinary in nature.
 
A consultant Nephrologist and chairman, Medical Advisory Committee(CMAC) of Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dr. Alhaji Abdu, in a paper titled; ‘Trend of Kidney Diseases” said there was a growing need to have dialysis machines in Kazaure and Ringim emirates. He urged the state government to subsidise the cost of dialysis as done in other state to reduce the burden on families of the patents.
