The Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, has rejected alleged planned outsourcing of some key departments in the hospital. The union also alleged that government was hell bent on downsizing non-medical staffers of the hospital, despite a pending case before an Osun State High Court on the matter.
It warned against privatisation of key sections that include Accounts and Pharmacy in the hospital as contained in the gazette presented by the audit firm contracted by government to enable the hospital fulfil its mandate to the people.
He wondered why the state government would after about four years of the recruitment exercise, lay off workers that were duly recruited under the immediate past Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Femi Fadiora. He added that government should take responsibility for any wrong action it board might have taken in the process of the recruitment exercise, rather than descending on the employees.
Afolabi disclosed that over three hundred staff of the hospital have so far been down degraded, saying any attempt by the state government to sack workers in the hospital would be resisted. He then called on well meaning Nigerians to prevail on Governor Rauf Aregbesola to reverse the proposed mass sack to safe the hospital of industrial crisis.
