As part of efforts to tackle the recent outbreak of Lassa fever in the country, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Federal Ministry of Environment are partnering to develop policies and programmes aimed at sensitising Nigerians on preventive environmental health practices for immediate and long term benefits.
Speaking during a visit to the Ministry of Environment, the NOA Director General, Mr. Mike Omeri said the agency’s Community Support Brigade and Citizens Responsibility Volunteers will work with the ministry at the community level in a sustained sensitisation campaign on environmental protection. The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja has denied new case of Lassa fever. Chief Medical Director (CMD), LASUTH, Professor David Oke said the patient who was brought to the medical emergency unit of the hospital on Wednesday suspected to have been down with Lassa fever, have severe hypertension and he is undergoing treatment.
Bayelsa on red alert,Sets Up 15-man Response Team
The Bayelsa State executive council yesterday activated a red alert warning over the current outbreak of Lassa fever in some parts of the country.
