The Medical and Dental Consultant's Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Osogbo, Osun State branch, on Wednesday said it would embark  on strike action, if state government fails to meet the demands of the association after the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum issued by the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA 

 

The ultimatum, expires on April 23, among other, was to make case for the payment of outstanding salaries and allowances for members of the union.  

 

 

According to a statement issued in Osogbo, on Wednesday, and signed by Dr Kassim Adebayo and Olajumoke Tokunbo, chairman and secretary of the union respectively, MDCAN denied insinuations that it was on strike at the moment.  

 

The statement reads in part, "the announcement on state owned radio by the state government directing workers to resume works or risk being sacked was needless and uncalled for.  

 

"Despite not declaring strike, we condemn non-payment of salaries of worker in the employment of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and non remittance of deductions from workers salaries."
