The supervising minister of health Dr Khaliru Alhassan has said the greatest challenge confronting the health sector recently is industrial harmony. He made the statement at the commemoration of the international day of radiology at the National Trauma Centre Abuja.

Dr Alhassan, represented by the permanent secretary in the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government (SFG) Aminat Shamaki, noted that the inability of health workers to work as a team is jeopardizing progress in the sector. He added that for the benefit of the patients, health professionals must work as a team to foster greater understanding to ensure continuous development of the radiology associated specialties in the country.

Speaking on radiology department, the minister noted that there were peculiar challenges to practicing in a developing country like Nigeria, saying that such had huge cost implication attached to them.

President of the Association of Radiologist in Nigeria (ARIN), Dr Val Okey Onyia, urged the government to help radiologists perform better by providing an enabling environment, training, infrastructure, resources and policy framework.
