The Registrar, Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria, Michael Sunday Okpaleke has said Nigeria is in dire need of more radiographers.
He stated this yesterday at the opening of the Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasonography organized by the institute of radiography.
He said Nigeria needed one radiographer per a thousand people stressing that it was part of the reasons the board organized the training to ensure more radiographers are trained. Okpaleke said that to ensure that the training of radiographers in Nigeria meets global standard, the board has done a curriculum review for fellowship programme at Enugu.
The Head, institute of radiography, Mr Ejimofor Malachi said the course was statutory for radiographers before they go into the practice of sonography, “ and they need to be well equipped to be accountable to the reports they give out,” he said.
