In a bid to reduce the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, an iTest Principal Investigator, Dr Juliet Iwelunmor, has said that the HIV self-testing tools will help in curtailing the spread of the virus.
Iwelunmo during a health designathon organised to foster the promotion of HIV self-testing among youths nationwide held in Lagos on Saturday said the goal of the event was to give talented young people the space, the resources, and the tools they need to develop solutions that would encourage other young people nationwide to self-test for HIV.
The leader of a group, 4Youth by the Youth, Dr Oliver Ezechi, said the designathon was organised as a platform for youths in Nigeria to design and develop innovative and practical ways of improving HIV self-testing among young people in the country.
“The mission of the 4YBY campaign is to promote Nigerian youths’ participation in innovation and entrepreneurship that would lead to sustainable solutions for HIV and other sexually- transmitted diseases prevention in Nigeria,” Ezech said.
