The management of Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, has dismissed the call by the Nigerain Medical Assciation (NMA), Lagos State branch for the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Chris Bode, to step down or be removed by the Federal Government.
Earlier last week, the Lagos NMA leadership urged President Buhari to sack Bode and another medical director of a tertiary health institution, for violation of civil service rules on retirement age, high handedness and lack of attention to the welfare of its staff, stressing that Bode has since passed the civil service age of 60 years.
But in a press conference, the hospital management referred to the call as baseless and misinforming, adding that, the aggrieved few doctors were looking for ways to disturb the peace and progree currently going on in the hospital due to the management's refusal to play to their gallery.

According to Bode, "the hospital is an affiliate of a university and the retirement age of academic Professors is 70 years, which is wmbedded in the act setting up academic institutions, as amended in 2012," adding that, he is an academic staff of the University of Lagos and only on leave of absence to take up the political appointment, which he said was at a prerogative of a President not NMA.
The CMD noted that the management of the institution drew the anger of the association because the hospital remained open during their incessant strike actions, which, he said they often used to disrupt the good workl going on in the hospital.
"How long can we continue to condole strike actions called by the sponsors of NMA, which are the Resident Doctors.
