The Guinness Eye Centre, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, begins free glaucoma screening for Nigerians as part of activities to mark this year’s World Glaucoma Week.
The exercise is billed to hold 6-12 March, 2016 at the hospital’s eye centre.
A statement by the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kelechi Otuneme states that the programme was part of the Hospital’s Corporate Social Responsibility and geared towards helping to raise awareness for glaucoma which is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. The statement noted that early detection is one of the preventive measures to prevent blindness from the disease.
