The Jigawa State Government has said only one child died in Suletankarkar local government area of the state as a result of outbreak of measles and whooping cough,  but  not six persons.

It was earlier reported by some national dailies that Maizare village recorded six under-five deaths following the outbreak of the child killer diseases in the LGA.

The Director of Disease Control in the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Umar Balangu denied the report yesterday while chatting with journalists in his office.

Dr. Balangu who said 12 cases were reported, out of which one child died, attributed the recent outbreak to the failure of most parents to make their wards available for vaccination and routine immunization.
