The Central Working Committee meeting accepted the retirement of Comrade Marcus I. Omokhuale as Secretary General after over 12 years of meritorious service as the Chief Administrative Officer of the union. He has subsequently proceeded on a 3-month pre-retirement leave.
The CWC-in-session therein appointed Comrade Silas G. Adamu hails from Zangon Kataf Local Government of Kaduna State. He was born on the 2nd day of February, 1959. He went to government Secondary School, Kagoro and the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Language.
His Civil Service career started at the Kaduna State Ministry of Information. He also served as an Admin Officer at the National Eye Centre, Kaduna before joining the services of the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria in August, 2000 as an Assistant Secretary General. In the course of his service, he has served at different times as the State Secretary in charge of Federal Capital Territory Council, Nasarawa State Council, Kwara State Council and Kaduna State Council where he doubled as the Zonal Secretary, North West Zone of the Union.
Until his appointment as the Acting Secretary General, he was the Head of Department, Administration and Establishment at the National Secretariat, Abuja
