The inaugural Central Working Committee meeting of the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria after the 9th National Delegates Conference (NDC) was held on July 16, 2015, at the Medical and Health Lodge, Life Camp, Abuja. All elected principal officers elected at the (NDC) which was held on April 27-29 at the NAF Conference Centre Kado-Abuja were in attendance as well as Secretary General and Heads of Departments.
Comrade Biobelemoye Joy Josiah, the National President enjoined all members of the CWC to work assiduously together to ensure that the great heights which the union has soared to over the past decade under the able leadership of Comrade Ayuba Wabba who is now the NLC president is maintained and consolidated.
The CWC-in-session deliberated on a number of issues which bear on the welfare and wellbeing of members and staff of MHWUN, with far reaching resolutions reached. The CWC-in-session also resolved on organising a leadership retreat at which a four-year programme of action would be formulate which would guide a systemic and methodical approach for the continued building of MHWUN as the strong, dynamic and dependable union of medical and health workers across the country and which plays an active role in the defence of health workers in particular and the working class in general in West Africa, continentally and globally.

Before the CWC meeting commenced, members visited the site of Ayuba Wabba House, the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria Complex which will serve as the new premises of the union’s National Secretariat. Considering the progress noted in putting final touches to the ultra-modern building, the CWC directed that all efforts be made to ensure completion within the next few weeks, after which the building would be commissioned for use.
