The Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, says Chief Medical Directors in government hospitals now earn more than ministers.
Aregbesola, therefore, urged the people of the state not to make unrealistic demands from the minister from the state as the President Muhammadu Buhari administration had curbed waste.
The governor said this on Sunday at a reception held in honour of the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, at the Osun State Government House, Osogbo. Aregbesola promised to constitute his cabinet in January 2016, saying paucity of funds made him to delay the appointment for over a year.
Also speaking at the event, the minister said that the administration of Buhari would focus on primary health in order to ensure that every Nigerian is taken care of.
The former vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan assured Nigerians of cooperation of the Federal Government with all the state governments to ensure a more functional secondary health care system.
He said efforts were underway to take health care to the doorstep of over 70 per cent of Nigerians, saying the slogan of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government was that “every life must count.”
