Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria Public Notice

The attention of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has been drawn to various advertisements in the dailies by - one AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WEST AFRICA - GAMBIA CAMPUS advertised in the Daily Trust of Tuesday, 24th November, 2015 on page 9, offering admission to candidates for a 2-year MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE programme & one MARIAM ABACHA UNIVERSITY IN NIGER REPUBLIC as being advertised in the Nigerian newspaper. 
 
Council wishes to inform the general public as follows: 
 
These programmes do not conform to the training period of any of the two West African Health Organization harmonized programmes for medical laboratory practitioners in the region that is Medical laboratory Scientist (5 - 6 years duration) and Medical Laboratory Technician (3 years duration). 
 
The Council as the only statutory body saddled with the authority to regulate the practice of Medical Laboratory Science & Services in Nigeria never gave any approval for the running of the programme to the above named institutions or their affiliates in Nigeria or wherever they may be located in view of the repeated advertisement of this programme in several Nigerian Newspapers. 
 
Persons/candidates who enroll for these programmes will not be granted recognition by the Council or allowed to practice anywhere in Nigeria. 
Any candidate who undergoes such un-recognized programme does so at his or her own risk.
