The immediate past chief executive officer of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), Dr. Ahmed Mora, has called for a more intense inspection and accreditation of healthcare providing facilities in the country.
Dr. Mora made the call a paper presentation titled, “The Role of Health Regulatory Agencies in Enhancing Effective Healthcare Delivery Services in Nigeria,” at the just concluded 2016 joint scientific conference organised by the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA) and the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA) in the USA. He also called for an enhanced Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for healthcare professionals by health regulatory agencies.
According to him, such step would help to improve the skills, expertise and competencies of healthcare professionals in the country.
Dr. Mora articulated his presentation based on a research study he conducted in Nigeria with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN) and Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria (DTRBN) as a case study.
