A nationwide campaign gets underway to vaccinate some 39 million children aged under five years against measles next Saturday, according to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.
At a briefing ahead of the campaign, executive director of the agency, Dr Ado Muhammad, said the first phase will target children in 19 northern states and the FCT between November 21 and 25. A second phase from January 28 to February 1 next year will target 17 southern states.
Some 52,323 posts have been designated for the vaccination including health centres, town halls and homes of designated traditional rulers. Muhammad said some of the posts will be along Nigeria’s borders to immunise children entering the country.
