The National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria held an extraordinary NEC meetinn in sokoto on 26th April 2016 atthe UDUTH Auditorium to review the updates on the 21 day ultimatum issued from 4th April 2016.
After deliberations on the progress made so far, the NEC took the following decisioins: 1. That the stage Wise Strike Action which was to commence from 25th April 2016 be shifted by two weeks till 9th May 2016
2. That our branches in the state of Osun, specifically LAUTECH teaching hospital osogbo ishereby directed to immediately suspend the 7month old strike action. This is to enable the implementation of the agreement reached with the government of osun state on 15th april 2016 in osogbo.
3. That the federal government should finalise action on all other issues of our demands, as agreed during the negotiation meeting on 11th April 2016 concerning the following:
i. unpaid december salaries of Doctors
ii. Implementation of skipping for Medical Doctors with immediate effect
iii. correction of fractions of salaries paid to doctors in some hospital
iv. House officers entry point
v. Recall of our unduly sacked members in some hospitals
vi. RESIDENTCY TRAINING PROGRAM
a. Universal guiding policy
b. funding
The Above conclusions were made due to the following:
1. The prompt intervention by the president and commander in chief of the armed forces of the federal republic of Nigeria president Muhammad Buhari GCFR, during a meeting with the NMA National leadership as contained in a statement released by SSA on media
2. The genuine efforts and committment shown by the Honourable Minister of Health Professor Isaac Adewole and the management team of the federal ministry of health.
3. The Intevention of the leadership of the National assembly through the senate committee on health, house committes of health institutions and labour matters
4. Also as a result of the agreement reached with the state government of Osun and the managmeent board of LAUTECH TH Osogbo, in a meeting with the able NMA President Dr sir Lawrence Kayode Obembe. That payment of available funds will be made to Doctors in LAUTECH Osogbo within the 1st week of suspension of strike action.
5. As a mark of respect to the soulof our deceased colleagues, who lost thier lives in a fatal car accident on their way to sokoto for the NMA Conference
