National Eye Centre Staff Calls off 4months Strike

After four months of shutting down the hospital, staffs of National Eye Centre, Kaduna have gone into agreement with the hospital management to call off the strike.
 
Speaking after the resolution of the meeting at the hospital premises yesterday, the Chief Medical Director of the centre, Dr. Godwin Adejo commended the joint workers union for agreeing to call off the strike.
 
He confirmed that, the management and the union have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the agitations of the union as soon as possible.
 
The CMD therefore pledged the management’s readiness to respect the agreement reached with the joint staff union to prevent future recurrence of the strike.
 
 
Also speaking to newsmen, Chairman of the union, Comrade Ibrahim Wambai Usman said, the union resolved to call off the four months old strike due to intervention of various stakeholders and health of their patients.
 
According to him, “we have gone into agreement with the management and that is why we have decided to call off the strike. And we have also considered the health of our patients,” he said.
 
Part of the agreement according to Usman was improvement of staff welfare packages and upgrade of the hospital facilities, among others.
