NEMA Treats 137 Children of Measles at Zamfara IDPs Camp

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in collaboration with Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF) has treated 137 children of measles at the

internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State.

More than 400 persons were displaced and camped at Barakallahu area of the metropolis following the deadly attacks on three communities in Maru Local

government area of the state a couple of weeks ago.

Speaking during the official closing of the camp organised by the Zamfara Emergency Management Agency (ZEMA), the assistant coordinator of NEMA, Sokoto operation office, Mr Thickman Tanimu said all the children treated were discharged before they left the camp.

In his speech, Executive Secretary of Zamfara Emergency Management Agency Engineer Sanusi Kwatarkwashi said the victims of the attacks were temporarily camped there pending the time the security situation in their communities would improve, and that the displaced persons had since started returning to their

homes.
