Residents of Kaduna State have sent a distress call to the management of the Federal Neuro Psychaitric hospital Kaduna, on the various fees being paid by patients which they say has skyrocketed beyond the reach of patients.
In the distress letter signed by a member of the Barnawa community where the hospital is located, Mr. Daniel Anche, they called on the management to take a critical look at the various fees being paid by patients attending the hospital with a view to making a downward review of same.
“The astonishing increase of the fees has really affected the patients who have been bearing the burdern in silence not knowing what to do or where to go for the issue to be addressed,” the letter read in part, “and that is why we decided to use this medium to make a distress call to the authorities concerned to take a sympathetic look with a human face at their various hospital fees, and come to the rescue of the poor patients by making a downward review .” Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Usman Haruna Doma, said the fees where hiked up due to the ebola outbreak and have since been reviewed downwards.
“A committee was set up after the ebola crises and the fees were reviewed back to how they were before the outbreak, maybe the patients are not aware that they have been revieweed. But I am surprised to hear patients say that they are still being charged high rates,” he said.
