Hacey HealthAs part of activities to mark the World Health Day, a non governmental organisation, Hacey Health Initiative recently partnered with a fraction of the Nigerian Medical Students Association (NMSA) to deliver free healthcare service to the residents of Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State.
According to the duo, the exercise was in line with the 2016 World Health Day, with a focus on halting diabetes.
Held within the premise of the Primary Health Centre in Agege, the medical volunteers had a busy time attending to the large turnout of people who came to have their health status checked. Blood samples, sugar level as well as malaria tests were rendered free of charge to the beneficiaries. Those who came down with complicated cases where counseled and given referral letters to various medical facilities.
In a chat with The Guardian, Project Director, Hacey Health Initiative, Isaiah Owolabi disclosed that the World Health Day 2016 is a significant moment to raise awareness on health issues that affect the society.
Owolabi appreciated the efforts to Access Bank PLC who decided to help more people in the society learn about their blood glucose level, blood pressure and weight; many people here are testing their blood glucose for the first time in their life.
“Many of them are also learning about how deadly diabetes could be for the first time. All of this is free for them and we are happy that through this gesture, we are not just creating a healthier society but a happier one as well”.
