The Apostolic church, Lokoja Area headquarters, Kogi state was filled to the brim on Sunday, 25th October 2015 as the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy held a thanksgiving service as part of the numerous activities lined up for this year's annual conference/scientific workshop tagged "CONFLUENCE 2015" holding from 25th to 30th October 2015 in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.
The high profile thanksgiving service which began at exactly 9am was well attended by the NSP national executive council members led by President Taiwo Oyewunmi, the National and Local organizing committee members led by Physio. Mrs J.O Smith and Mrs Eniolarunda Tayo respectively as well as numerous Physiotherapists both in Nigeria and abroad.
Speaking at the service, the Lokoja Apostolic Church area superintendent, Pastor. A.F. Ambode who doubles as the deputy chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Lokoja chapter conveyed greetings to all Physios from the President of CAN. In his sermon which focused on the importance of thanksgiving, Pastor Ambode said he was greatly moved by the level of faith exhibited by the NSP by holding a thanksgiving service even before the commencement of the conference with the hope that the event will be a success.
He challenged all christians to emulate the type of faith shown by NSP. The man of God prayed for the success of the conference telling the congregation that God can never disappoint those who have faith in him. He further prayed God to grant journey mercy to all Physiotherapists coming for the event.
Earlier, in an opening remark, the NSP President, Taiwo Oyewumi noted that this year marks the first time Kogi state will be hosting the NSP conference in her 56 years of existence. He thanked the officiating clergy for his continued prayers for the association and Nigeria as a whole. He further asked God to continue to strengthen him in His vineyard. The reading of the day which also focused on thanksgiving was taken from the book of Psalm chapter 92 verse 1 to 5 by the NSP General secretary Physio. Olaniyi Oladire who was represented by Physio. A special number was also delivered by the Chairperson of the LOC to the cheers of the congregation. In her votes of thanks, Mrs. Jumoke Smith noted that in her 3 years as chairman of NSP conferences committee, this is the first time a full program was mapped out by a church just for NSP. He thanked the officiating clergy as well as all the congregation and prayed for God's Blessings for all. Highlight of the event was the prophetic declarations on the Association by the officiating clergy, pastor Ambode.
Activities lined up for the 55th annual scientific conference of the NSP continues tomorrow, 26th October 2015 with a meeting of all Physiotherapy heads of department under the aegis of Committee of Heads of Physiotherapy Departments in Nigeria (CHOPDIN) at reverton hotel, Lokoja by 10am Prompt.
