Nigeria: Surgeons Score Ondo High On Health Investment

Akure — Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has been commended for his investment in the state's health sector.
 
Leaders of the medical accreditation team to the Trauma Center, Ondo stated this while briefing the governor on their findings following their visit to the centre.
 
They also described the Trauma Centre in Ondo State as a perfect place for Post Graduate Residency Training for Radiology and Anaesthesia.
 

Chairman of the Faculty of Radiology, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Professor Adeyinka Abiodun said the team was overwhelmed with the level of transformation in the medical village, particularly the trauma centre adding that the various facilities as well as the personnel manning the centre are adequate for accreditation for the residency training programme.
 
Chairman West African College of Surgeons Faculty of Anesthesia, Prof. Stella Eguma said they are ready to partner the state in developing more manpower in the anesthesia training. Responding Governor Mimiko said, the concept of University of Medical Sciences, Ondo is to make the state a tourist destination for qualitative healthcare delivery.
 
According to him, the investment became important considering the volume of resources Nigerians expend in seeking medical attention abroad.
