The International Council of Nurses (ICN) today announced the accreditation of a new International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) Research and Development (R&D) Centre. The new centre, the Dublin City University (DCU) School of Nursing and Human Sciences ICNP User Group, is located in Dublin, Ireland.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), which is a member of ICN - - fully supports this new endeavour. ICN appreciates the DCU Centre’s commitment to the goal of development and application of ICNP through education and research and the strong emphasis on the application of ICNP in nursing care settings.

“We are excited to welcome the DCU School of Nursing and Human Sciences ICNP User Group to the ICN Accredited Centres consortium,” said Frances Hughes, ICN’s Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to working with colleagues within the new Centre to expand further the reach of ICNP, providing nurses with the tools they need to ensure safe, effective, high-quality care for the people of Ireland.” ICN-Accredited Centres provide nursing resources in terms of information, services, research and training. ICNP R&D Centres, which focus on the development, implementation and use of ICN’s ICNP, are organised into a consortium that meets biennially. The next Consortium meeting will be held in 2017 at the ICN Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
The DCU School of Nursing and Human Sciences ICNP User Group is the 13th Centre to join the consortium.
