NYSC Member Unveils Medical Facility In Abuja

A 2013 batch C, National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, member, Anthony Uchenna Emeribe, has unveiled a primary health care medical laboratory facility at the NYSC orientation camp clinic in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Emeribe, during the commissioning in Abuja said the emergence of the Primary Healthcare Medical Laboratory Facility is to enhance healthcare service delivery through proper medical laboratory investigations as laboratory data account for 60-70 percent of empirical evidence required for disease diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.
He said the laboratory will provide Medical Laboratory services for free during camping period and will also reduce pressure on surrounding Medical facilities as only critical cases may need to be referred.
The corps member explained that the services to be rendered at the facility are Chemical, Pathology inventions which include blood sugar tests, and urinalysis, Microbiology investigations which include microscopy for stool and urine parasites and malaria parasite.
He said, “Others are Heamatology investigations which include haemoglobin genotype assay, whole blood and serum grouping and serology investigations which include screening for HIV 1 and 2, Hepatitus B surface antigen, Hepatitis C virus, Syphilis, Widal and pregnancy assays”.
Also the Chairman of the Abuja Medical Laboratory Scientist (AMLS), Dr Casmir Ifeanyi, called on the management of the NYSC to partner with them to work out modalities to put the laboratory in full service, adding that it can also generate an Internal Revenue for the NYSC.
The Chairman also called on corps members and others to follow this part, saying that this is the only way to salvage our country from the challenges been faced in terms of dearth in Health infrastructure.
