The fight to kick fake and counterfeit drugs out of Ondo State entered another phase today with the unscheduled inspection visits to some public and private drug stores by the State Task Force on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs.
Armed with the "Tru-drug Scan" machine recently procured by the State Government for the purpose of detecting fake and counterfeit drugs, the task force made up of officials from the State Ministry of Health, National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and Nigeria Police, visited the drugs store of the State Specialist Hospital , Mak Owoeye & Company Pharmaceuticals, Welfast Pharmacy and Tesy Patent Medicine Store all in Akure.

At the end of today's exercise and in keeping with the present administration's resolve at ensuring that residents seeking care consume good, quality, safe and effective drugs, Tesy Patent Medicine Store along Hospital Road Akure was sealed off by the task force due to the failure of most of the drugs.
As the task force continues with the exercise, members of the public are enjoined to participate in this arduous task of keeping the state free of fake and counterfeit drugs by volunteering information on any store suspected to be selling unwholesome drugs.
