From the stable of the ODORBN, comes the much awaited TASK-FORCE heralded as the Change we need in this present dispensation to sift the wheat from the chaff. The Profession having been bedevilled with all manner of derision from the public to the professionals alike needs an exercise like this to reposition the profession with its core mandate of first and foremost delivering comprehensive eye care to the teeming populace who are in dire need of a professional and qualitative eye care bereft of charlatanism.

Sequel therefore to an earlier mail from the office of the Registrar of the Board for Optometrist and dispensing opticians to put their house in order by regularising their registration with the apex registration board and their respective state affiliations, it is now crunch time as the regulatory body has swung into action by visiting optometry clinics, dispensing opticians and the likes and by so doing measuring their compliance to the minimum requirement for opening an outfit.

The results, i dare say for the kick off state (imo state) is really appalling. Reports of clinics being sited in very unclean environment, dirty clinics unfit for human habitation not to talk of human rehabilitation, quacks of different cadre and the like where unearthed in Owerri, reports are still pouring in on the malfeasance being perpetrated by colleagues and charlatans alike was mind boggling to say the least.
we await more reports from the team on the ground.
