The Nigerian Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists has elected new officers to take over the leadership of the body.
The officers were elected at the recent 17th annual national conference of the association, held in Lokoja, Kogi State.
Mr. Martins Oyewole was elected as chairman, while Dr. Kingsley Amibor emerged vice chairman.
Also elected were Kilani Jelili, secretary; Francis Odigie, assistant secretary; O. A. Agbojo, treasurer; Margaret Adedapo, financial secretary; and Omoniyi Ojo, publicity secretary.
The list of the new leaders was forwarded to our correspondent by the association’s new Vice Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Amibor.
Other officers elected at the event were Hafiz Akande, internal auditor; Ayuba Abdulrasaq, Un-officio member; Karounwi Ogunjobi, Un-officio member; and Yakubu Maji-Isah, immediate past chairman.
It was gathered that the conference that produced the officers had the theme, ‘Transforming hospital and administrative pharmacy practice for improved healthcare delivery.’
The association resolved, among others, “that the pharmacist remains an integral and indispensable professional in the health care team in the delivery of quality health care to patients in Nigeria.”
The association identified irrational use of drugs and adverse drug events as “leading to avoidable morbidity and mortality.”
