CHIEF Medical Director, Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Professor Oladele Sijuwola, is set to be investigated for allegations of ineffective management, negligence of duty, poor staff welfare, and procurement of equipment.
Sijuwola had on Thursday, appeared before the Oyo House of Assembly sequel to the November 3 resolution of the House to investigate the purported morbid state and disrepair at LAUTECH, Ogbomoso.
Briefing the House, Sijuwola intimated of the purchase of equipment and improvement of the infrastructure of the hospital, specifically, the Accident and Emergency building.
He added that seven wards in the administration building had been opened; the issue of poor water supply was being addressed, with the near-completion of a dam, while he was negotiating with universities to train their resident doctors. Sijuwola however noted that the institution faced a challenge of inadequate funding.
The grilling session however began with a poser when member representing Ogbomoso South, Honourable Olukayode Akande asked Sijuwola whether or not an institution devoid of efficient leadership and effective management could realise its primary objectives. Akande, mover of the motion, alleged that the CMD was last sighted in the hospital in October 2014, which he said might also be unconnected with alleged unstable health of Sijuwola.
He further accused the CMD of abandoning staff welfare, non-transparency in procurement and non-installation of several equipment in the hospital ranging from MRI equipment to CT scan, Dialysis machine, Ecno-Cardiograph, among other laboratory equipment.
In her contributions, member representing Ogbomoso North Constituency, Honourable Wunmi Oladeji, warned against shrouding the investigations into the allegations in secrecy.
Aside from investigating the CMD, she added that the procurement consultant be investigated.
