The Pharmacy Technician Alumni Association of the Ogun State College of Health Technology (OSCOHTECH) Ilese Ijebu has written to the Registrar of the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria, Pleading for Consideration on three major issues.
You would recall that the Governing council of the pharmacist council of Nigeria (PCN) at its 39th regular meeting of May 2015 considered the appeal of the ogun state college of health technology (OSCHT), Ilese Ijebu with respect to the holders of pharmacy technician certificate of the college between 2000 - 2015 who graduated without writing the councils supervised examination due to non accreditation of the program. The PCN granted approval for them to write the councils examination after a refresher course (sandwich programme) to be undertaken at three approved centers namely Lagos state colleg of health technology, yaba, lagos state, Kwara state college of health technology, offa, kwara state and Oyo state college of health technology, eleyele,ibadan oyo stae.
In a letter dated 4th April 2016 and titled "Re: Pharmacists council of Nigeria's Notice of One year Sandwich program for OSCOHTECH Holders of Pharmacy Technician Certificate",the Alumni pleaded that the Ogun state college of health technology, Ilese Ijebu be included amongst the retraining centers, in as much as they had met the councils requirments. According to reports of an accreditation visit, OSCOHTECH now has the most standard and well equipped laboratory in Nigeria colleges of Health. The Alumni pleaded that the form fee and the proposed tuition fee of two hundred thousand naira be reduced to a considerable amount for both the unemployed and the proletariat. They also pleaded that the program be run for a semester (4 -6 months) baring in mind tha they already have a wealth of practical experience at work fields and were duly prepared for council exams
The Alumni reaffirmed their believe in the councils cooperation, liniency and hoped for a timely response and propitious consideration of thier plea. The letter was signed by the Alumni chairman and General Secretary.
