The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Plateau State chapter, has appealed to Governor  Simon Lalong to employ  a nurse, Jennifer  Samuel, freed from Boko Haram captivity recently, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

 

Spokesman for the  the association, Tuamlong Agyo,  told NAN on Friday in Jos that the gesture would help in cushioning the psychological trauma Samuel experienced while in captivity. NAN reports that the association had earlier appealed to the governor to lift employment  embargo, saying it would reduce abduction of aid workers from the state  in the North-East.

 

Agyo  said, “We want the governor to use his power to give her  an automatic employment so that she can remain at home here in Jos. Though security challenges are everywhere, yet, you cannot compare the security challenges facing Plateau to that in the North-East.

 

“We want the governor to hasten lifting  employment embargo so that our youths will be employed instead of going to high security risk areas to seek jobs.” NAN reports that Samuel, an aid worker with Alliance for International Medical Action, was abducted alongside four others by Boko Haram terrorists on December  22, 2019 along Mongono-Maiduguri road and released on January  15.
