Posted on: Wed 21-10-2015

The police yesterday stopped a protest by doctors at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital (FNPH) in Yaba, Lagos organised under the FNPH chapter of the National Medical Association (NMA) to call for the sack of the Acting Medical Director, Dr. Rahman Lawal.

It was gathered that the hospital management called in the police to stop the protest.

The aggrieved doctors and other health professionals in the hospital have been complaining over Lawal’s renewed appointment as the acting medical director.

They medical workers alleged that Lawal’s four-year tenure ended this year, a few months after he attained the compulsory retirement age of 60, saying the renewal was against public service rule on retirement age.
