This is to remind all Medical Laboratory Practitioners of the provisions of Section 22, sub-section 8 and 9 of MLSCNAct 11 of 2003 which states that:
8. No scientist shall practice as such in any year unless he has paid to the Council in respect of that year the appropriate practicing fee as prescribed
by the Council;
9. Any scientist, who in respect of any year and without paying the prescribed practicing fee. practices as such commits an offence and is liable on conviction:
(a) In case of a first offence, to a fine twice the prescribed practicing fee; and
(b) In case of a second or subsequent offence, to a fine of not less than three times the prescribed practicing fee, and if the Scientist is in the employment of any person, that person commits an offence and shall be punished in the like manner as the Scientist unless he proves that the failure to pay the practicing fee was without his knowledge, consent or connivance.

Furthermore, Rule 7 (1) of the newly gazetted Rules of Professional Conduct for Medical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians and Medical Laboratory Assistants, 2014 also states that "every practitioner shall pay his annual practicing fees not later than 31" March in every year. In the case of a practitioner who is enrotled during the year, the fees shall be paid within one month of enrollment". ALL MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS, MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIANS AND MEDICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANTS ARE HEREBY INFORMED THAT RENEWAL OF THEIR LICENCES AND ANNUAL REGISTRATION RESPECTIVELY MUST BE nONE BEFORE 31" MARCH, 2016. FAILURE TO COMPLY SHALL ATTRACT THE PENALTY AS STIPULATED BY LAW.
2016 fees going forward is processed via IHRIS platform hosted at ihris.mlscn.gov.ng that has been integrated with Remita. List of practitioners'indebtedness is hosted at MLSCN website. To initiate payments for outstanding debts, follow Remita link on Council's homepage. Select fee type "other arrears" on Remita page, fill the form and generate RRR. Make payment using your debit card or walk into any bank, present RRR to make payment. Send payment evidence to [email protected]
